Our Focus
NewType is dedicated to engineering organisms to break down small plastic particles and address the exponentially growing health and environmental crisis caused by small (nano/micro) plastic particle pollution. Our focus areas include wastewater treatment, industrial composters, and soil remediation. With a multidisciplinary team, we are committed to developing sustainable solutions using biotechnology and cleantech innovations.
Our Technology
Using our experience in enzymatic plastic recycling, NewType is developing Bacteria-as-a-Service (BaaS) to create effective, rapidly scalable, and low-cost solutions for plastic waste management. We are dedicated to pushing the boundaries of biotech and cleantech to revolutionize environmental sustainability and address the global plastic pollution crisis.
The Exponential Crisis
10+ million metric tons of small plastic particles are created every year. This plastic waste is building up in our bodies, water, soil, and food. On average, an adult has 7 grams of plastic in their brain. This was a 50% increase over a similar study conducted 8 years prior. Nano/micro plastics are also found in adult kidneys, livers, reproductive organs, and even in umbilical cord blood/newborns. Plastics and polyesters have significantly altered the environment.
